Call of Duty 2020 will be part of the Black Ops universe

The next Call of Duty title that's expected to launch this fall will not be an official installment within the Black Ops series, according to new information from prominent leaker TheGamingRevolution. When it was announced back in May 2019 that Treyarch would be taking over the main development of CoD 2020 from Sledgehammer Games, many of the rumors and leaks that followed claimed the game would be yet another Black Ops title.

Some claimed it would be Black Ops 5, while others believed it would be a reboot of the series and take place during the Cold War era in the 1960s.On April 20, well-known CoD leaker TheGamingRevolution published a video dispelling those theories, and claiming that the next game will not don the legendary Black Ops title. That's not to say that it won't be tied into the same universe, however, as TGR made it a point to note that it is expected to crossover with BO story in some way.

This latest rumor comes from YouTuber TheGamingRevolution, who reported a lot of accurate information about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, and was the source of a lot of the Black Ops information in the first place. Apparently, our insider has heard from four different sources that while Call of Duty 2020 will be tied to the Black Ops series in some fasion, it won’t actually have the words “Black Ops” in its title. Additionally, another YouTuber by the name of ‘dkdynamite’ claimed Sledgehammer Games had been worked on a Vietnam-based Call of Duty as far back as 2010, though it was shelved early on.While the YouTuber suggested the game’s title would be “Call of Duty: Vietnam,” Schreier appeared to dismiss that theory.

Whatever it turns out to be, the game is expected to be released this fall with cross-generational support, meaning that it could be released on the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in addition to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
