Duolingo is working on a new product to add to its growing suite

Duolingo, best known for its whimsical owl and language-learning app, is working on a new product to add to its growing suite: a math app, according to CEO Luis von Ahn. The co-founder mentioned the app during an interview last week, the same day that Duolingo officially listed in the stock market.

According to a report by TechCrunch, Duolingo put up a job posting last May for a learning scientist for math.

The Duolingo job posting reads, "Duolingo is venturing into teaching math! Our strengths lie in building educational apps that are well grounded in learning science and keep learners motivated — come join us to help build a new Duolingo math app that promotes student growth and is fun to use!"

Duolingo

Duolingo has crafted itself a reputation as the go-to app for learning languages on iPhones and that reputation will surely help it break into the world of teaching mathematics as well. The company currently offers another app aimed at kids, with Duolingo ABC designed to help kids learn how to read. Both of Duolingo's apps are available for download from the App Store now.

For Duolingo, the math app is another chapter in its history of experimentation. The company has churned through hundreds of ideas in its decade of existence, which have had varying degrees of success.

Over the past few years, it built a product suite beyond its core app, which includes Duolingo ABC, a literacy app for kids and the Duolingo English Test. Meanwhile, Duolingo’s “graveyard” of failed ideas includes a few retired monetization strategies and AI-powered chatbots. Popular features like leaderboards sputtered before they succeeded. And math, interestingly, has always been in the back of von Ahn’s head.

Duolingo offers more than 100 language courses in over 30 languages. These languages include Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, German, Hindi, Arabic, Latin, and Greek.

Duolingo currently has two apps available. The first and best known offers lessons for learning over 40 different languages, while Duolingo ABC helps children learn how to read in an easy and fun way. You can check Duolingo’s apps on the iOS App Store.

Because of its gamified system, Duolingo is suitable for children and adults. You can homeschool your children and teach them a second language without spending too much money and going out. With a Duolingo premium Account, you will be free of the ads in the middle of the lesson and can enjoy an uninterrupted class.Duolingo premium account would cost much less if you decide to buy it from z2u.com. Just enter z2u.com and go to the Duolingo page. You will see that their prices are even less than what you have to pay on the original website. You will just have to follow some rules carefully.
