Roblox gets into apparel in stores across North America

Roblox is a user-generated massively multiplayer online social game platform, developed and published by Roblox Corporation for Windows PC, Mac OS, iOS, Android, Xbox One, PS4 on 2005. It’s no more an online game than a game engine, in which players can create their own games and play it with friends. Nearly all Roblox games are created by the Roblox community, with the exception of some created by Roblox official. Players can customize their virtual characters with various hats, head shapes, body shapes, clothing, and gear. Players may also create their own articles of clothing. They can also collect and trade items, especially limited edition collector items.

In its continued journey offline, the user-generated gaming platform has teamed up with Bioworld to release licensed apparel across North America.

User-generated gaming platform Roblox has signed a licensing deal with Texas-based Bioworld, which will release branded apparel in stores across North America this fall.

The all-ages apparel line will include shirts and sweatshirts featuring the Roblox logo, characters and other assets. It will be available first at Kohl’s stores later this month, followed by additional retailers later this year.

After securing US$92 million in funding from investors, Roblox has experienced exponential online growth this year. The platform—available online, through mobile devices, Xbox One and Oculus Rift for kids ages eight and up—currently boasts more than 64 million monthly active players and has offered to shell out up to US$30 million to its 1.7 million indie creators. In fact, Roblox’s indie developers stand to receive profit cuts from the company’s upcoming apparel sales if their own characters and IP are featured in the clothing items.

Roblox first jumped offline earlier this year with a partnership with Jazwares for branded action figures.
