World of Warcraft Classic has one more test before it launches

Get ready for that vanilla World of Warcraft classic feel, because Blizzard just revealed pre-launch test details in addition to PC specs. The brutal original World of Warcraft experience that I remember so well from back in the day is coming back and is officially set to launch on August 27th. To prep, Blizzard is hosting a pre-launch test that starts today and will end tomorrow, August 9th. This is a way to launch on a much smaller scale to anticipate bigger issues come day 1 when everyone can jump in.

Want to get in on the action? You'll need an active World of Warcraft subscription and account. That's it! Blizzard will be monitoring those playing to detect any issues that could bring down launch day, so that it will be a smooth experience for all from the get go. Blizzard noted the key time frame for playing, asking players to log-in and play as much as possible during August 8, from 2:00 p.m. EDT to 4:00 p.m. EDT, as those is the hours that the developers will be looking at the game extensively for issues that need to be patched out before launch. The post also noted players can now install World of Warcraft Classic from the Battle.net desktop app for pre-loading before the test next week. Here’s how to install World of Warcraft Classic:

•    Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft in the game selection menu on the left.
•    Under the Version dropdown menu, select World of Warcraft Classic.
If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second dropdown for Account. In that column, select the active account to associate with your WoW Classic install.
•    Click the Install button. You’ll see an installation progress bar that will show you when the installation is complete.

It’s worth noting that all of the content released through patches won’t be available immediately, so you won’t get into Blackwing Lair or Naxxramas at launch. Instead, they’ll be available in subsequent phases after the game goes live on August 27th. World of Warcraft Classic is accessible as long as you have an active subscription to the main game – stay tuned for more details en route to launch.
